Bedhampton, Hampshire – 2013

Garden renovation project – The owner of the property wasn’t happy with the layout created by the previous occupant. It felt fairly dark and enclosed and the only lawn area was fairly small. They wanted something that was much more family friendly but retained the professional landscaped feel. There was a fairly large, dead but standing oak tree trunk that was unsightly and may pose a safety risk, this was to be removed and the wide border reduced back to allow a larger lawn area. Some old decking that adjoined the conservatory and back of house was to be removed and replaced with some quality sandstone paving, the paving would be extended in path form down the side of the house and up the edge of the garden to an existing newer decked area. The border around the newly created lawn would be created from existing sleepers cut down and positioned, close-butted on their ends vertically in an undulating fashion.

Tree trunk was cut down ready for the stump to be destroyed using a mobile stump grinder, borders were reduced and cleared of rubbish, ground was levelled and prepared for new quality premium turf. Decking was removed and ground was prepared for sandstone paving, this was to included a new 150mm of Type 1 limestone scalping sub base.

The Oak Sleeper edging was installed around the perimeter of the newly created lawn area. A brick edge was installed around the prepared patio and path area perimeter and the new sandstone paving was installed to great effect. Then to finish the job off the premium turf was expertly installed with advice given on its ongoing maintenance.

  • Timber was recycled on site
